Settling Down
Sää on Paska ♥ The Weather is Sh♥t
Welcome back! Calgary is having awful weather at the mome, so I hope you are all staying safe.
I myself have been locked inside and spent 11 hours straight on research and modelling for this project. I hope the effort was worth it. I learned alot about both Rhino and Blender for this project. In rhino I learned the Network Curves method of surface modelling natural shapes, and I learned tons about modelling, sculpting, and rendering basics in Blender.
Here are my final results for those who don't want a long read:
I think they turned out awesome, and here's the best part, the way blender renders, it only took an astonishing 1 minute per render!!!!
Now, lets go through the process.
First I modeled the pillow (which might be surprising considering how well it lined up with the cat's head). I did this by drawing many curves while holding a pillow on my lap to feel how each path might travel. Then I went to Surfaces > Network curves and was left with a perfect result! (On my 3rd attempt).
Next on the agenda were some simple curves to serve as the cat's spine and bones as a reference while I was modelling. I first tried recreating cat anatomy with sweep1 but it turned out pretty horrid-looking.
Side note, that tiny circle is my ring size, my game plan was to extrude that in blender and boolean difference it to make the sculpture into a ring (which worked wonderfully)
After painstaking amounts of tutorials and modelling practice, I came up with my final ring design (Yes it is the proper size, It was a headache to get it there though).
Overall, I am pretty okay with how the model turned out. It is one solid mesh so that is a huge relief, and the detail should be printable, but even if it isn't it was still a blast to make, and I learned loads of personal knowledge, despite what my final grade for this might be.
Pysy lämpimänä ♥ Stay Warm
