Slight Drinking Problem

 Moika! ♥ Hello!

For our mechanical recreation project I photographed a few things from my home bar, which is one of the things making this semester more manageable. (7 classes woo hoo baby). This collection includes Flasks, a wooden whiskey bottle puzzle, various mixing tools, and tea steeping tools for advanced cocktails.

So, let me give you a brief introduction and my thoughts on each object.

The wooden whiskey puzzle is meant to make accessing a bottle a bit harder, more fun, and more rewarding. Unfortunately this unused Christmas present has a critical oversight, the adjustable capping mechanism can just be lifted to release the bottle. It is also a bit long to measure the wooden rod, so I would need an alternate measuring method to find the length. If I take on this object I would want to create an improvement to the design to fix its critical oversight. This object would be pretty easy to recreate as the pieces are relatively simple, past their size.

Next is a steeping mesh with a plier-like spring. Unfortunately it would be hard to disassemble without destroying it, but it is well-loved and I've been meaning to buy a new one for a while, so that's a risk I'm willing to take. Of the 3, this would be the hardest to make in rhino, but it could also be the most rewarding. The natural dents in the mesh are something I would love to capture, however I would be willing to sacrifice that detail for the original spherical shape.

Last, and my favorite, this well-loved flask that I bought for my after-grad party. The mechanisms are simple, but the shapes are a bit complex so I think it's the perfect challenge for me on this next project. The little drinking spout is detailed, and the hinge has some great shapes, and the scale is perfect. Plus its rustic and pretty.

If I can nail the seam textures Ill be seriously happy.

Anyways, have a great thanksgiving all!

Kippis! ♥ Cheers!
